New York City Ballet
In her 6 years at the New York City Ballet, Tracey rose from shopper/craftsperson to Assistant to the Costume Director. Called an “unsung hero” of the company in the New York Times, her main responsibilities included research for new productions, sourcing all materials for repertory as well as new productions, archival recordkeeping of each ballet and maintenance of the fabric and materials stock of the Costume Shop. Some of the highlights of her time at the Ballet include assisting visiting designers including Valentino, Stella McCartney, Carlos Campos, The Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte, and Lilian Casabal; and working for a year on a project to have custom-designed display cases made for the Koch Theatre lobby to allow patrons to see the costumes up close and with information about how they are made. During these years, Tracey built close relationships with vendors from NYC’s Garment District to Canada, Europe, and India.
